Welcome

In a joint venture with the City of Hattiesburg, the Department of Nutrition and Food Systems at The University of Southern Mississippi designed H.U.B. City Steps to promote and engage Hattiesburg residents in physical activity and proper nutrition. Forming community partnerships and social networks, the program focuses on preventing hypertension by involving local residents in regular walking activities. Funded by the NIH Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities, the project targets African-American residents, but does not exclude others from participating.

The abbreviated spelling of H.U.B. City Steps is a play on the program motto "A Healthy 'U' Begins with Steps".

Mission Statement

H.U.B City Steps is a community-based walking initiative that encourages and motivates Hattiesburg residents toward a healthier lifestyle.
